This 4" linear lock Fordite Pocket Knife with a 3" Damascus stainless steel blade is the perfect gift for the car lover in your life!

One side of the handle is made with Fordite, aka Detroit Agate or Motor Agate, which is pre-1985 automobile paint that has hardened sufficiently to be cut and polish. It was formed by the now extinct practice of hand spray-painting multiples of production car bodies in large automotive factories. The overspray paint in the painting bays gradually built up on the tracks and skids that the car bodies we moved on. Over time, many colorful layers were built up there. These layers were hardened repeatedly in the ovens that the car bodies went into to cure the paint. Some of these deeper layers were even baked 100 times! Eventually, the paint build-up would become obstructing, or too thick and heavy, and had to be removed. Some auto workers, entranced by the beauty of this material, took home chunks in the dinner buckets. The backside of the handle is made of wood and finished with a pocket clip.

The blade is made of Damascus steel which is characterized by its strength, edge holding ability and dramatic appearance. The Damascus steel used in these knives comes from Japan and is 'Sanmai Damascus' or sandwich Damascus. There is a core of VG-10 'Super Stainless Steel' with 16 layers of SUS410 high carbon stainless steel on each side, then pressed between two steel plates with holes and ball bearings to produce the 'Raindrop Damascus' rust free blade with 33 layers of steel.
